Training, Education, & Safety

BAC District Council of Wisconsin offers several opportunities for training and education throughout the year. See the list below for more information.

Training

The International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers’ apprenticeship and training system is widely recognized for producing highly skilled craftworkers. Through Local union programs and those offered through the International Masonry Institute (IMI), BAC members and contractors have access to training opportunities unmatched in the masonry industry. These training programs are jointly funded by labor and management through collectively bargained contributions. These contributions are evidence of BAC’s, and its signatory contractors’, commitment to develop highly skilled masonry craftworkers. To find out more about the many opportunities available through BAC’s/IMI’s Apprenticeship and Training programs, visit the International Masonry Institute.

Safety & Health

The BAC District Council is first and foremost committed to the safety of our Members. Training is the Key to creating a safer work environment. Our goal is to create a safer work environment for the member through our training and awareness. Our training will help you recognize the potential hazards associated within the construction industry. The overall goal is to help each and every member.

Notice for all Wisconsin BAC apprentices concerning hours reporting into TMS

  • Every apprentice should be tracking and reporting both work and day school hours into the TMS system.
  • Make sure that even when you are laid off, you continue to report into TMS.
  • If you have problems reporting or have questions, contact your day school instructor.

It is very important that you report hours, the local Joint Apprenticeship Committees rely on this information to assure that you get a well-rounded apprenticeship.

The policy:

Each month your hours are due by the 10th of the month. (September hours are to be recorded by October 10th) If they are not received, every 1 day they are late, your next wage increase will be delayed by 1 day. NO RETROACTIVE PAY!
