Bates Scholarship Program

U.S. Program

BAC annually awards three scholarships to students whose parents or step-parents are U.S. BAC members. The stipends are $2,500 per year for up to four years – up to $10,000 total.

To be eligible for the scholarship, students must:

  • Be a junior in high school.
  • Have a parent or step-parent who is BAC member in good standing.
  • Plan to take or have taken the “PSAT” exam in October 2018. Please check with your high school to schedule the exam.
  • Apply for the U.S. Bates Scholarship. The deadline is March 31, 2019.

The U.S. Bates Scholarship program is administered through the National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC). Those who advance in the competition will be notified by NMSC directly.

Scholarship recipients will be notified by NMSC in March 2020. (Students who do not advance are not notified as such but can assume they have not won if they do not hear from NMSC by December 2019.)

Just to recap, students apply for the Bates Scholarship during the first half of their junior high school year and are notified if they are selected in March of their senior year.
